Akhbar alyoom - His Majesty King Abdullah II during his meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday, warned of the catastrophic consequences of the continued attack on Gaza, stressing the need to put an end to the tragic humanitarian crisis in the region.
In the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, His Majesty reiterated the importance of the United States' role in calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, and ensuring the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian, medical aid to the sector.
His Majesty King Abdullah II reaffirmed that the region will not enjoy stability without a fair solution to the Palestinian issue and the achievement of peace based upon establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
His Majesty emphasized Jordan's complete rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza, which presents a clear violation of international law, and stressed the necessity of enabling the people of Gaza to return to their homes.
His Majesty strongly rejected the attempts to separate Gaza and West Bank, considering them as extensions of the Palestinian state.
He also stated that the acts of violence by extremist settlers against Palestinians and violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem are not acceptable, emphasizing the need to challenge these issues before they worsen the situation in the region.
The meeting also tackled the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and means to strengthen it in various fields.
