Akhbar Alyoom- Translated by: Lana Al-Dweik - the Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center started the campaign "Say and Act... Together Against Cancer" as part of the center’s humanitarian duty towards the cancer issue. In addition to its continuous efforts to provide the center's patients the finest level of treatment.
The launch of the campaign takes place in conjunction with World Cancer Day, on the fourth of February each year. This campaign seeks to promote the concept of joint responsibility against cancer, creating a culture where efforts and behaviors become ingrained, starting at the individual level, and extending to public and private community institutions at the national level. This campaign coincides with the ongoing efforts of the center to grant Gazan patients their right to get treatment and care, amidst the harsh events we are witnessing.
The General Director of the Hussein Cancer Foundation, Nisreen Qatamish, stated to 'Al-Mamlaka' that the 4th of February is World Cancer Day. Years ago, the foundation has designated this day to remind people of the significance of following a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent cancer.
In her statement on the 'Say and Act' campaign launched by the center, Qatamish mentioned that the campaign comes at a very exceptional time from a humanitarian perspective, for Gazans, especially those suffering from cancer.
According to Qatamish, there are 10,000 cancer patients in Gaza who are deprived of their right to treatment, and the center's top priority is to continue supporting them. She stressed that these patients have the right to receive their treatment asap without any delay.
Further stating: “Today, we cannot speak about prevention and adopting a healthy lifestyle while there are patients all across the world deprived of the right to be treated. Our first message is a message of solidarity, standing by the side of cancer patients in Gaza, and a call to the world to pay attention to these patients and assist them.”
And she continued: 'The other message, at the individual and institutional levels, is that today we are launching the 360-degree balanced initiative. Our goal is to encourage everyone to achieve balance in their personal lives, family lives, workplaces, universities, and schools. We focus on four fundamental issues: physical health by adopting a healthy lifestyle in terms of diet, exercise, and combating smoking, mental health; everyone realizes the importance of mental health for individuals and communities, environmental health, and the health of various social relationships. Through this program, we will have various initiatives everywhere.’
